PGR Toolbox: Phase 2 and the PGR Portfolio of Activity

Phase 2 of the PGR Toolbox has now been released. The revisions include several important features that improve the Record of Supervisory Meetings:

  •  Second (and third) supervisors can now sign-off a supervisory meeting. However this is only by agreement from the primary supervisor. Primary supervisors need to follow the instructions on the link below:  How to permit second supervisors to sign-off supervisory meetings
  •  Students can upload documents with their pre-meeting agenda.
  •  Meetings arranged in advance can be entered into the Outlook calendars for both staff and students. Both can opt-out of this arrangement.
  •  The rule by which students could only enter 2 meetings that were not signed off by their supervisor, has been removed.

Phase 2 also introduces the new PGR Portfolio of Activity

This new tool is designed for you to record  all professional and personal development undertaken during your research. The tool is aligned to the Researcher Development Framework, produced by Vitae and contains an optional and flexible, form of skills audit, to allow you to record the skills gained as you progress in your degree.

You are strongly encouraged to begin using this tool as soon as possible; use of the tool is required for annual progression each year.
(This tool replaces the Record of training and Generic skills used in the former PDR.)

A new Record of Formal Training is due for release shortly.
